Complete Indoor Track Change

NOVEMBER 17th

We will be completely overhauling the indoor off road track on Tuesday November 17th.  Help will be needed after 6pm.  We will be switching it up with more rhythm to make things even more interesting.  Please make it a point to come in and help out, it will take far less time for all involved and we'll be able to build a better track with more hands.  This is a complete overhaul and will make an enormous difference in the "feel" of the track.  I can't wait. cheesy

Please mark this on your Calendar if you can help out.  Even if its only a couple of hours.  The more help we get the better the track will be.

Thanks,
Todd

The easiest way to find out what the track will have for features and possibly influence the layout is to come down and help with the track change. kiss  The work is not overly difficult but it is a huge amount for the very few people that have consistently shown up.  If we have some extra hands this time we'll be able to put the finishing touches on the layout and having the surface in tip top shape for the Gobbler that Sunday.

I may reuse the bridge in a completely different way, but then again I may not. evil

I vote we repair the layout we have and not do a complete change! I like the layout we have and I don't think weve had it all that long. plus I think its bad timing right before a trophy race. Just my 02 cents.

I thought the whole purpose was to change it for the trophy race? I'd like to see the bridge kept but welcome a change after having the Short Course 500 on the current track.

I'd like to see another layout with the straight on the backside, and or have a big double/triple on the straight.

I ran on the track for the first time last night, I like the bridge and my vote would be to keep it. Once I got over the shock of how slippery it is I started to have fun. A sand section would be interesting or maybe a un-compacted area at least but for the most part I enjoy it. I look forward to seeing a new layout, you guys always do a great job so I expect a cool new track.......Brad

Do you guys want an obstacle course or a track for crying out loud.  I'm biased, but I want the most technical track around...that is how you get better.  But I know that is a fine line as lesser or newer drivers may not have fun.  But it works for LIR...

My only issue with the bridge is that there is only a 10' section on the stand where you can see through it.  Anywhere to the left or right of it creates massive blind spots.  I like you guys, just not enough to want to stand arm to arm with you in order to get a clear view of the bridge.

This is true, but lately "other" tracks are not doing the same.

I think if anything is done for now it should just be a few minor things, like changing the double double after the bridge and maybe the one before it, as the first one gets beat on by all the SC trucks only half making it, and the one after the bridge is so finicky to try and make. It does help make it harder, which is always good, but I guess we could use a little change. As for sand/loose dirt, sand would get spread all over the track, and make the whole thing slippery, and loose dirt would compact in tires, and both would just kinda kill the rhythm.

I don't like hole shots!

not even one week before the trophy race a full track change = holeshots during the trophy race = no fun!

also I want to help with the track change and so if I do that...that will = Not much wrench time before the trophy race! which = no Fun!

I agree, sand would spread all around the track so that's a stupid idea. When I say "loose dirt" I'm thinking packed but not to the point of concrete, more like an outdoor track.......Brad

As long as we keep the bridge I'm happy. As tough as it is to see under the bridge, I think it's important to keep that technical feature. I'm going to try to make it for the track change this time even though it's during the week.

Not to be rude but how the heck it that a technical feature???  I've been racing on Todd's tracks for 9 years, and Todd can definitely add some challenging stuff to a track but not getting good traction across a bridge really isn't all that technical.  I find getting traction up the hill before the bridge more challenging than the bridge itself!

Driving under the bridge without being able to see it and still be able to stick to your line requires a lot of technical skill to trust your instincts of how to drive through as if you could see it for the parts you can't. The hill before the bridge is certainly difficult but that right turn to the hill is made much more difficult by not being able to see everything leading up to it with the bridge in the way.

The reason the bridge itself is technical is because of what you pointed out. Not getting good traction on the bridge for someone who doesn't line up correctly for the first double can easily cause a wreck or lost time at best.

I enjoy tracks different from the others and the bridge sets it aside from the others in my opinion.

i agree with justin. it sounds like people want to make it easier for the SC class, thats fun....... but a technical track with tight racing is MUCH more fun. IMO

the only change i think would be good would be to tighten up that double before the bridge. just enough so a short course can make it after a few laps of running.

LoL. ... .. Just playing guys.. don't worry whatever we end up doing (I know) you guys will love it an start ripping on. Ill let Todd chime in a he will explain it better. Happy Motoring. .

Slight change of plans.  We are still changing the track on Tuesday, but instead of a complete track rebuild we will keep the base layout and alter the flow of the track.  I also believe the uphill is unnecessarily difficult and plan to bank the surface more toward the drivers stand to allow for a smoother transition, we will also alter the jump configuration, and resurface the straight to smooth it out again.  We will also be repairing any holes as needed.

Though this is certainly easier than a total rebuild it is still a lot of work.  Please come down and help out.

Thanks,
Todd

Who needs the bridge just build a jump to clear that gap lol jk. On a more serious note all I drive is an SC truck and the double before the bridge is frusterating because I cannot clear it so maybe a triple there would be more interesting and create a faster line for the SC guys cause we could double it then roll off the last one, idk just an idea and maybe a berm somewhere would be cool too. Ill be down to help.

I have that on my track now and most of the time it's OK but sometimes you can't clear it and have to drive into oncoming traffic....Brad

Maybe if doubles turned into table tops or keep the doubles but make the landing wide so SC can make it. It's hard to make a track that works for all classes, 4wd things need only a few feet of run to clear stuff while SC needs lots of space to build speed........Brad

It looks pretty much the same.  We mainly did repairs and made the jumps a little more friendly.
