I want to see if theres any local interest in starting an
RCGT class, this is popular at R/C Madness and at
mid-west/west tracks.

RCGT is:
any 1/10 AWD TC chassis
HPI X-pattern tires
Realistic rims
Any realistic 190mm body

Whats the difference between that and VTA just bodies ? That's what on road needs a couple more classes to go with the 20 they already have .

Really shouldn't say much. Sammy came in running brushless/lipo/rubber. What are we now running? But I do still think the classes aren't very productive. VTA was a "who can hack Mike Haynes the hardest". Mike could probably wait 2 laps and then start and still win.

I know my son has liked the "cool" bodies on some of the Tamiya RTR cars. I am sure he would like the different rims and bodies to choose from. Might be something to look at. Sounds fun

The biggest problem with these classes are people using $400 race chassis if it was restricted to cheaper chassis I could see it . It would be good for new people or people who don't want to spend a ton of money to race .

Your missing the point Sammy I know you can you can use a $100 TA05 roller that is perfect for the class it's when newbies show up to race with them and you show up with your $500 TRF416 chassis and $500 electronics .

But you cannot argue the fact that there are a large group of people running this class, more drivers , more cars, more better

I think it would catch on with the younger kids and there parents. Kind of like the Slash class is for off road. Just fun and not who has what. Why couldn't it be a RTR class to even the playing field.

Because eventually, even if it was kept stock and only new drivers ran it, one of them would get substantially faster than the others and you'd be back to square one.

Only in this case, evenutally becomes sooner than later and the aftermath is disenfranchized hobbiests and a shop with unbought parts/cars.

Now that I've thrown that frown out there,

Show me the crowds of people clambering to do this and I'll do my best to help get it going.  At the end of the day, it's a bunch of hobby cars.  But I do see it as another 'speed spec' class with a quick rise & fall of popularity.

I think World GT would be easier to get into, overall. We could all run a "Realistic" body style and the chassis would be fair by default...  Not to mention... Hpi x pattern tires on carpet...im all set. Why is no one on the world gt wagon..? im totally interested and confused as to why its not a big class at rce.

I think you would be surprised at the handleing of the tires , or maybe the Maddness crew is just a lot better at chassis set up Ha Ha , that was "a joke" , don't ruffle your feathers , but that being said , they have these things handleing pretty darn good, it may not be for Mr. A-main, "another joke" but try to not be so one dimensional, alot of new people come in and see eveyone ripping around at mach 5 and are instantly inttimidated and do not come in and race for that reason, how many times have you seen someone come in and be amazed at how good eveyone is , and for that reason they don't even try. I agree WGT would be great , I just bought one and ran it twice, but eveyone stopped running it , I would love to get WGT going strong , and the bodies idea , was very good , In the end it should be about making the shop grow as a whole, and not I feel that not showing people that there is a good class to start in , may be a mistake, don't get me wrong , I probably would never race this class, but the overall outcome may surprise you , these future racers would all eventually graduate up, and the result would be a bigger regular turnouts,I'm sure that if this were to get off the ground ,Willing to bet Todd wouldn't mind stocking some ready to run sedans, I'm all set which ever way we go,just think would would help RCE grow, wouldn't it be cool to get a normal weekly crew to rival the offroad turnouts?

There are always a few guys that have them. I know Rob S., Timmy, and a couple of others have them. Trust me if you wanna run they will find a way. At one time Casey and Kenny put my son in rubber tire with one just so he could drive. Come on and check it out.

Speed Spec LIVES!!!  Smiley

I've got an extra car, or two, that I bring with me, in case there's anyone who wants to give it a whirl.  We've got some guys coming back after taking the year off, so Spec races should be getting bigger this winter.

Eddie, bring yours!

And I'm putting together a WGT car (thanks to Chach!), too.  Long live 2 wheel drive pan cars!!  Smiley

I just dont see why people dont run this in regular rubber? There is nothing stopping you from running heavy tires and wheels with less bite, or bodies that make your car seem broken. Although I am sure some of the bodies wouldnt be that much heavier or that much worse aero wise.

Sammy, why not just take the world champ's body off and run a drifter body, glue up some tires and convince everyone with how cool your car? Maybe people cant be converted to tamiya cars, but perhaps this class could happen, unless you want Toby Keith to participate, as judging from this video, he is probably against it due as evidenced by his slight racism... http://gawker.com/5426617/did-toby-keith-make-chinaman-eyes-at-a-nobel-peace-prize-concert  but maybe he would consider running short course

What is the point of having 2 rubber tire classes if you want to have a GT class make it a sportsman or beginner class .
